FRASER, CO — Week 1 didn't ease anyone in. It just picked winners and moved on, mostly without asking the draft grades for their opinion.
Kathy opened her title defense with the only perfect lineup in the league — every point that could be scored, was. What we projected as a coin flip against Brian never got the chance to be one; she won by nearly 40 and made it look like a formality.
Mark won by 44 and still somehow finished with the least efficient lineup in the league, a full 34 points sitting unused on his bench. It shouldn't be possible to be this sloppy and still lap the field. And yet.
Sean put up the highest score of the week, 49% over his own projection, off the back of a draft that took under eight minutes. There is still no explanation for any of this. There may never be one.
Peter's week ended in a loss, but not a rout — a competitive final score against the toughest matchup of the day. Not every good week ends in a win.
The widest gap of the week belonged to Morgan, who blew past Cory by 45 points in the only true rout of the day. Cory opened as the projected favorite and closed with the worst score in the league — the fastest fall of the young season.
Liam got one of the best individual performances of the week out of Derrick Henry and lost anyway. Fantasy football remains undefeated at making great games feel irrelevant.
Eight teams played, four moved to 1-0, and the draft grades already look like they were handed out for a different season. One week in, nothing is settled — but plenty is already funny.
BREAKING: the Chicago Bears are 1-0, fresh off a 59-point, 552-yard demolition of Carolina — and they're having just as strong a week here. Caleb Williams put up 37.26 points, the top quarterback performance anywhere in this league, out of Mark's lineup. D'Andre Swift, part of that same real-life 59-point outburst, quietly boosted Kathy's already-perfect week too. The Bears are apparently good now, in both realities. We'll be monitoring the situation. This has been Da Bears Report. We now return you to a league where that sentence didn't need to exist.
To the membership —
The League Office has completed its review of Week 1. We found nothing that requires action, several things that require concern, and at least one roster trend we've chosen not to comment on further.
Make no mistake: the shield remains strong heading into Week 2. Good luck out there. Most of you.

"I hear them still, the benched and the unloved," he mutters, thumbing through box scores nobody asked him to read. "Some of you will bench a miracle next week too. You always do." He says nothing else. He never does.
